Escape Trailer Industries, things to know

Escape trailers are built from the frame up in a factory located in Chilliwack, British Columbia, Canada. These trailers outer shells are formed, one half of a trailer at a time, in large molds using resin and fiberglass applied by a spray gun. Once the trailer halves are formed, they are joined together at the “belly band” one half on top of the other. The two halves are permanently sealed to prevent water leaks.

Escape Trailer Industries official manufacturing video. I set the video to start at the 1:25 second mark so it skips the first few minutes of marketing material. I do encourage you to watch the full video, it’s a nice one.

When was Escape founded?

Escape Trailer Industries was founded in 2002 by Reace and Tammy Harmatuik. The company is located in Chilliwack, BC, Canada.

Why are Escape Trailers built using fiberglass?

Fiberglass is a strong yet lightweight material and can be molded into many shapes. It’s this flexibility in shape that gives molded fiberglass RV’s their unique “egg” shaped appearance. Escape trailers aren’t as egg shaped, as say a Casita, but the underlying egginess is there.

How are Escape Camping trailers different from other brands?

Why use molds when building the trailer’s walls instead of wood or aluminum framing with fiberglass sheets attached?

The ability to mold the shape of the exterior of an RV allows the engineers to design for aerodynamics, which leads to increased fuel economy while towing. A molded fiberglass trailer is less prone to leaking due to the reduced number of seams. A traditional RV/camping trailer is built using several layers in the walls. An outer skin, framing, inner skin and hopefully some insulation sandwiched between the walls.

How customizable are Escape trailers?

When you put down a deposit on an Escape camping trailer, you will start the process of filling out a “build sheet”. The build sheet will guide the entire process of the manufacturing of your camper…from the color of the outside decals to the selection of custom upholstery fabric. There are many options to choose as you design your perfect camper.
